Anxiety
There are various anxiety disorders which come under the umbrella or anxiety. However, they all have a basis of symptoms and signs. Typically, people with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive and persistent fear about day-to-day situations and scenarios. These fears and feelings tend to interfere with daily activities, they may also prevent people from attending events, or visiting certain locations.
Panic attacks can be a common symptom, these are sudden feelings that increase and reach peak within minutes, with anxiety, fear or terror at the core of the attack.
How does Surrey Centre for Nutrition work with Anxiety?
Using functional and nutritional case work and analyses we will work to identify the triggers present at the onset of your anxiety and from here determine our approach going forward and any relevant investigations such as nutritional and functional testing that may be required.
When we consider anxiety that is present without a situational trigger we need to dig deep to understand what the imbalances are present for that client which have resulted in the symptoms. Some key areas of investigation may include gut health (due to the fundamental impact of poor gut health on brain health via what is known as the gut-brain axis), identification of nutritional deficiencies or insufficiency of nutrients which are key in supporting brain health, neurotransmitter imbalance, poor detoxification capacity, identification of neuroinflammation, autoimmune disease, food reactivity, blood sugar imbalance, use of stimulants etc. Your health timeline and dietary analysis will help us to understand the most likely cause of your anxiety, and we will use functional testing to get a greater depth of information.
From here we will use a nutritional and lifestyle approach and protocols to target any imbalances identified to support you back to a point of health for a life not limited by anxiety. We may apply dietary and supplement protocols to support relief from symptoms whilst we are working on underlying causative factors.
